Queen Shadow Girl

In reflections, I find myself. Like Alice, but Kelli. No chess piece queens to offer me crowns. I’ve got my own.

Shadows were my home. My keepers. But, I didn’t want to be kept. To be ruled. I wanted to be the most powerful piece on the board. The deadliest. Queen. Come slaughter or high water. Dear Neptune gave his all…. Tridents skewer Shadow Girls. Not Shadow Queens. Not anymore.

Mirrored glass reveals me the heavy heads of shadows. How crowns tilt chins downward. How conquest doesn’t glint. It glimmers like a diadem catching daylight’s final moments.
